If you live in North America you know about the wildfires in northern Saskatchewan. The smoke is affecting millions of people here in Canada and the USA. LaRonge had to be evacuated last week, many people having to leave their pets behind. Also the northern communities are known to have wild dogs and a low rate of spaying and neutering of their animals in general. With the fires pushing wild animals out of their habitat it’s not surprising the wild dogs and their puppies would also be fleeing.
A worker for the fire crews was driving back to Prince Albert to resupply and he saw amid the traffic of fleeing people there was 2 puppies dodging vehicles and running alongside the highway, also fleeing. Since no-one was stopping to rescue them, he did and brought them to his daughters farm where they got checked out by vet and all their shots. She couldn’t keep them, so when we found out about them we inquired. We heard their story and about how sweet they are were, and since my husband was looking for a new guard dog and a retriever dog we decided it was fate and adopted both. We named the boy Paladin and the girl Scout. 😀
