Rita the Rabbit Lalylala WIP

On April 14th I started Illiana’s second Lalylala, this one a gift for her third birthday. 🙂 Last year I made her a rainbow Kira the Kangaroo.  I’m using Bina the Bear pattern as the base pattern for Rita.  The Rabbit is a modification released for free by the designer on her website {available here}.

Sparkle & Doom DesignsI’m using yarn that I purchased from Kijiji – another estate score!  This yarn was all already made into cakes and I believe that this particular yarn was a frogged incomplete project as it is all two strands of sport weight yarn.  One strand is pastel varigated and the other is light green with that shiny thread in it that is usually a baby yarn.  It is really pretty together and it gives the Rabbit doll such a soft colour.  It really is turning out gorgeous.  AND a lot bigger than anticipated!!

Sparkle & Doom DesignsHere you can see most of the body done and I started doing the rose embroidery.  Seven colours of yarn and some fudging of the flower as due to the increases and decreases the stitches aren’t perfectly lined up.  It is quite fiddly work and I only had to back track a couple of times.

Can you see the soft colour changes?

Sparkle & Doom DesignsNow I have the body, embroidery, and one ear done!  🙂 Illy is going to love it!
