t-shirt crafts

I’ve been playing with tarn, otherwise known as t-shirt yarn, for a few years now.  I have a few unfinished projects and a couple failed projects as a result.  Lately however I have been inspired to try again.  I need a small rug in front of my kitchen sink.  It needs to be durable, homey, and washable.

Sparkle & Doom Designs

The t-shirts and old clothes made from jersey are cut into 1cm wide strips.  I prefer the spiral cutting method, but I’m using old tarn that I cut in the back-and-forth method, so there are weird little bits sticking up. I’m using a 9mm hook, and Frank O’Randall’s  Mini Rings of Changes pattern up to round 7 I believe.

so far so good.  I’ll make 4-6 of them, sew the together at the corners, and have a cute rug. Keep an eye out for a Ta Da!
