whew. It’s been quite a couple of months here at the farm. The “fun” isn’t over yet.
Everything really started going downhill when our oldest and beloved dog Asha got sick. We thought she just needed some time, and some medication to take swelling down. She went downhill very quickly and we had to take her for a final vet visit to ease her suffering and to cross the rainbow bridge. I was in charge of her end of life care as I am home all day. I am happy that circumstances worked out that our two children could be home for 5 of her last 7 days and so she had lots of company, pets, kind words and touches, and love to help distract her from her pain and embarrassment of having her messes cleaned up. I really feel for seniors now, having seen how embarrassed our Asha got of being unable to properly go to the bathroom on her own, and she’s a dog. It’s especially hard on my husband. She was his girl before me and my children came along. But Asha had a great long life. Full of dog cookies, her dog brother, her loving Daddy, and best of all – 5 years ago she got her very own Little Girl. I had never seen a dog so happy as that day we brought the kids to his home to visit. She was so full of wiggles and licking and happiness for Rhiannon.
Rest in Peace sweet Asha, you are missed.
** Asha passed a little over a month ago, which is why I haven’t managed to post for the last almost 2 months. **
